A Guy's Weekend in Ventura County Coast

A Guy's Weekend in Ventura County Coast Food & Drink
Day 1

Girls weekends--women have them all the time--so why not guys? And it doesn't have to be a "roughing it" weekend in the wilderness. Ventura County Coast has everything from kart racing to comedy night, so check out our favorite spots below!

Start with a short drive north from L.A. to Ventura County Coast--Camarillo, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, and Ventura--unique cities unto themselves each with inspiring choices fun, adventure and relaxation. Whether it's a beach resort in Oxnard or Ventura or something inland in Camarillo, there is a full-service hotel or inn for every pocketbook. The weekend can start off right with margaritas and Mexican food at Margarita Village followed by a night of laughs at the
Ventura Harbor Comedy Club. The restaurant and club are a short walk from one another in the Ventura Harbor.

Day 2

The next morning, guys can check out sports fishing, kayak and wave runner rentals or sign up for an excursion to the Channel Islands with Island Packers. If you are an avid surfer, Ventura County Coast has some of the best surf and few crowds. In the evening, indulge in an exotic eating experience at Moqueca Brazilian Cuisine overlooking the Channel Island Harbor in Oxnard. The trip wouldn’t be complete with checking out the numerous craft breweries in Ventura County Coast. Some favorites include Institution Ale in Camarillo, in Oxnard, and MadeWest in Ventura.

Day 3

A hearty breakfast the next day is in store at Pete's Breakfast House Restaurant on Main Street in Ventura, known for its buttermilk pancakes and homemade strawberry jam. Next is a round of golf at one of the area's championship public golf courses. Or sign up for a class at Jim Hall Kart Racing in Oxnard where students learn to drive ultra-condensed, 160 pound, formula karts that are known to pull up to 1.4 G's around the track corners. Heading home, stop at the Commemorative Air Force Museum in Camarillo, which features vintage aircraft and an extensive collection of World War II memorabilia--from guns and ammo to military uniforms. Volunteers are on hand to answer questions and conduct private tours. For the daredevils in the group, the museum even offers flights in its vintage warbirds. By the end of the weekend, there will be plenty of opportunity for bragging rights.
