Ventura County Coast is bringing you another post on what you can do in Ventura County! Camarillo, Ventura, Port Hueneme, and Oxnard all have educational and fun museums for the whole family. While unexpected, Ventura County’s variance in historic, artistic, and natural museums are entertaining to say the least. Learn something new while experiencing some of the most beautiful sights California’s central coast has to offer.
Come tour the home that Juan Camarillo purchased in the beautiful countryside of Camarillo. House Tour hours are Saturday through Monday 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
This museum offers a beautiful array of historical artifacts from early California. Hours of operation are from Noon to 4 PM.
This museum has both a natural history collection and a research institution dedicated to bird conservation. The next tour will be Friday, February 26th at 3:00 PM.
This Oxnard museum has a collection of over 70 beautiful vintage automobiles and Americana housed. This collection spans from 1903 to present day. Hours of operation are Wednesdays, 6 PM – 10 PM and on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM – 4 PM.
Come see some beautiful artwork and a diverse collection of multi-cultural and ethnographic artifacts. Hours are Thursday through Saturday 10 AM – 5 PM, Sunday 1 PM – 5 PM.
This maritime museum gives visitors a glimpse of the 500 year-old collection containing exquisite seascapes and stunning ship models. Admission is $5 Adults, $4 Seniors (62+), $2 Children (6-17) and is open 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.
Ventura County Landmark No. 32 houses historical artifacts, photographs and information on the history of the Hueneme area. This location is open from Tuesdays 10 AM- 3 PM,
Fridays 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM, and the 3rd Saturday of each month, 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM.
The Seabee Museum, established in 1947, is the second oldest of the official Navy museums. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM with free admission.
The Fine Arts and Historical Artifacts section of the Museum of Ventura County collection includes more than 30,000 objects and works of art. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, from 11 AM to 5 PM.
Visitors may experience the expansive adobe home and courtyard on the 4700-acre Rancho San Miguel with grounds open daily (free) and house open for tours Saturdays & Sundays, 11 am-4 pm or by arrangement.
The visitor center features a bookstore, a display of marine aquatic life, and exhibits featuring the unique character of the Channel Islands National Park. The museum is open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM daily.
Evidence of an early Indian culture are exhibited here along with objects dating from the founding of the Ventura mission through the early 1900’s. The museum is open on weekdays 10 AM – 2 PM and weekends 10 AM – 4 PM.
