Thinking about taking a weekend trip, but don’t want to leave your four-legged friend at home? There are plenty of dog-friendly destinations to create the perfect vacation that you and your furry friend will be sure to enjoy! Here’s the perfect dog friendly itinerary for the weekend in Ventura County Coast!

Day 1

Stay!

Let’s start off with where to stay. It’s always nice to make the first stop at the hotel to drop off your belongings and get situated. Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach is a beautiful beachside hotel that welcomes dogs of any size for an additional fee of $75 per stay. Conveniently on the beach, Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach is also minutes away from Ventura Pier, historic Downtown Ventura, and more! Dogs are allowed on the beach but must be leashed. It’s recommended to call prior to booking to verify availability of a dog-friendly room.

Eat and Play!

Now that you and your furry friend are all situated, I’m sure both of you are ready to chow down and explore! There is a free trolley you can take right from your hotel! Take the trolley down the coast for about nine minutes to Ventura Harbor Village. Grab lunch at The Parlor, a vintage-themed restaurant featuring a 1940’s-style soda fountain, burgers, hot dogs, and more! They even have a dog-friendly “Paw-lor” menu with dishes made just for dogs!

When you’ve finished eating, take a stroll down the Promenade. Ventura Harbor offers doggie bag stations, a water fountain for dogs, a photo board designed for dogs for fun photo ops on the Harbor Promenade, and a grassy lawn area. If you’re feeling a little adventurous, take your dog for a ride on the water! You can rent an electric boat, pedal boats, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards from Ventura Boat Rentals. There are also several shops ranging from art galleries, boutique clothing, one-of-a-kind collectibles, and gift shops to browse and enjoy.

Is it time for a pick-me-up? Take the trolley back towards your hotel to Downtown Ventura and stop by Palermo Coffee for delicious coffee, tea, gelato, pastries, chocolates, and even gourmet dog treats! There is even a little gift shop inside selling soy-based candles and other great gift ideas. Take a moment to relax and enjoy your treats outside on the dog-friendly patio.
