VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (November 29, 2017) — The Ventura County Lodging Association (VCLA) announced today that it has hired California tourism veteran, Brian Tucker, to lead the organization’s tourism marketing efforts as Executive Director.

VCLA Board Chairman Victor Dollar says, “We knew the minute we interviewed Brian that he was a rare find and the right fit for our organization. He brings both broad tourism marketing experience and specific knowledge of VCLA’s goals and needs based on his tenure with Visit California. Our entire board is excited to have him and we are confident that he will bring great things to the table for our four cities.”

An expert in tourism marketing with a passion for the California experience, Tucker has nearly 20 years of experience in marketing and public administration for tourism-related organizations, working with Grammy-award winning artists, economic and workforce developers, tourism and destination experts, transportation professionals, travel officials and political leaders to promote in-bound travel.

“When I saw this opportunity, I was inspired to harness all my communications skills and strategic passion to focus on these four cities and grow economic impact of this region. I haven’t seen a community rally around an organization like this before. Everyone seems so genuinely happy to be part of this passionate, authentic tourism community. I’m excited to be here and help execute our innovative tourism strategies,” says Brian Tucker.

As Executive Director of DiscoverIE, Tucker’s successes included the merger of Inland Empire Tourism Council with DiscoverIE. There, Tucker created and executed marketing strategies with a Board of Directors that included the Auto Club Speedway, Big Bear Visitors Bureau, Citizens Business Bank Arena, County of San Bernardino Economic Development Agency, LA/Ontario International Airport, Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau, Ontario Mills, San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino and Victoria Gardens.

Tucker later served as the Visit California Industry Liaison for Los Angeles and Southern California District, where he fostered relations with more than a thousand destination marketing organizations, hotels, attractions, restaurants, retail, and transportation service providers; and trained over 500 businesses on leveraging tourism-related resources such as co-operative programs, media events, trade shows, publications, conferences, and other marketing opportunities.

As Executive Director of Ventura County Coast, Tucker will be working closely with partner tourism organizations Visit Ventura, Visit Oxnard, Visit Camarillo and the Port Hueneme Chamber, along with public relations agency McCue Marketing Communications and advertising agency Verdin Marketing to promote overnight stays in Ventura County hotels and increase tourism spending in the region.
