VCC Hotels Team Up with the American Cancer Society

Ventura County Coast is proud to present an interview with one of our dear friends and partners: Ms. Pam Brady, Senior Market Manager, Community Engagement for the Ventura County branch of the American Cancer Society.  In this very special blog post, Pam discusses her important role in creating partnerships with our local hotels to provide free accommodations to traveling cancer patients and their families.  As Pam puts it, “that’s one less thing they need to worry about during their cancer journey.”

Thanks for taking the time to sit down with us today, Pam. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Pam Brady and I am the Senior Market Manager here at the American Cancer Society. I’m responsible for community outreach to ensure the integration of the American Cancer Society free services and events are recognized through the local communities. This means creating mutually beneficial partnerships and collaborations with local organizations, health systems, researchers, and corporate and civic leaders throughout the communities.  My passion is making sure that the needs of the community are met!

Can you tell us about the exciting new partnership program you’re developing in Ventura County?

Local Ventura County hotels are partnering with the American Cancer Society by providing complimentary rooms for visiting cancer patients who are utilizing our incredible local doctors, hospitals, and treatment centers.

We are very thankful to Brighten Management for becoming our first Ventura County partnership with the following hotels participating in the fight against cancer: Ventura Beach Marriott, Sheraton Four Points Ventura Harbor, Holiday Inn Express Ventura Harbor, Courtyard Oxnard, Residence Inn Oxnard, Holiday Inn Express Port Hueneme, Hampton Inn Channel Islands.

What are your goals you hope to achieve with this new program?

To ensure that every cancer patient is worry-free when it comes to finding a place to stay during their cancer treatment. Then patients will be able to concentrate all their efforts on getting well! Our goal is to create a hotel partnership program in Santa Barbara and Ventura County that is so robust that no patient ever has to choose between being treated by their preferred doctor or not.

Where do you see the program going in the future?

My goal would be for Ventura and Santa Barbara County to be number one in the nation in providing hotel partnerships to cancer patients!

Can you tell us about some of Ventura County’s fantastic hospitals and cancer treatment centers?

Cancer patients sometimes travel long distances to receive quality care and we are lucky to have quality cancer specialists and superior hospitals here. In Ventura County, the American Cancer Society partners with Community Memorial Hospital, Los Robles Hospital, Simi Valley Hospital, St John’s Regional Medical Center and Ventura County Medical Center in the fight against cancer.
