Major Hotel Developments and Renovations in Ventura County Coast

Despite the effects of the pandemic, there has been a significant uptick of new hotel developments and renovations in the region. Across the area, several hotels have recently completed renovations or rebrands, and seven new hotels are coming soon. The new developments will result in nearly 900 additional rooms being added to the region.

Embassy Suites by Hilton and Conference Center

  • Expected opening date: Fall 2024
  • On the horizon: Embassy Suites by Hilton is part of the 14-acre Mian Plaza and Conference Center development that broke ground in 2019. The exterior design complements the architecture of the nearby Camarillo Premium Outlets and surrounding developments.

  • Meetings: 12,000 SF conference center
  • Amenities: The hotel will have outdoor break-out areas and a large courtyard. Guests will have access to a fitness center and outdoor pool and spa, as well as two restaurants, a wine bar, and a sports bar.

Home2 Suites by Hilton

  • Expected opening date: Spring 2024
  • On the horizon: Home2 Suites by Hilton will provide an additional 122 suites to the Mian Plaza and Conference Center, just walking distance from the Camarillo Premium Outlets. The hotel’s separate sleeping and living spaces are designed to give guests plenty of flexibility, whether they’re staying one night, one week, or more.

  • Meetings: Over 6,000 square feet of dedicated meeting space.
  • Amenities: The new 4-story Hyatt House Hotel will have a lounge, meeting space, and outdoor pool area with waterfront views. There will also be a rooftop bar and specialty restaurant.

  • On the horizon: Located on Esplanade Drive in the Wagon Wheel and Riverpark areas in Oxnard, the expansive Tru by Hilton will be a five-story (combined 41,422 square feet) hotel designed to appeal to a younger, tech-minded and design-savvy traveler on a budget.

  • Amenities: There will be a fitness center, rooftop lounge, and a pool for guests to enjoy. Tru by Hilton will be walking distance from many Oxnard restaurants, shopping, and Gold’s Gym. There will also be a hotel shuttle to transport guests back and forth from The Collection across the 101 Freeway.

  • What’s new: Embassy Suites by Hilton Mandalay Beach Hotel & Resort completed their renovation October 2022. The AAA four diamond award property rebranded to Zachari Dunes on Mandalay Beach, Curio Collection by Hilton.
  • Rooms: 250 rooms
  • Meetings: Over 23,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor event space
  • Amenities: A variety of event space can accommodate up to 300 guests including locations like the secluded Garden Courtyard set within waterfalls and natural greenery to the Playa Vista Lawn with sweeping views of the Channel Islands. Additionally, events can take place on the private Mandalay Beach, just steps from the resort. Two newly renovated ballrooms feature semi private foyers including the Coastal Ballroom (ideal for 75 to 150 people) and the main ballroom venue Tides (can host up to 300). The resort will soon offer Sugar Beats, a 30-foot converted Airstream trailer with a food truck vibe for cocktails and small plates or the Plaza, a poolside venue with fireplaces and an open seating concept. The newly opened Solarium will be a popular venue (for events under 70) with a circular floor plan and expansive windows that face the beach.
