It’s spring, which means summer is around the corner. You can easily plan a weekend getaway stacked with activities in Ventura County Coast. Whether you’re looking for some family fun, need ideas for adventure seekers, or want a vacation to remember, our vibrant cities and stunning beaches and will make you never want to leave. It’s definitely why I’ve called this place home all my life.
Top Destinations
If there’s anything you should know about our summer months, it’s that visiting earlier is better. The weather is still mild, perfect for escaping the inland heat. Plus, a lot of our coastal events kick off this time of year.
Ventura
Head down to the pier for ocean views and explore downtown just a few blocks away. There are plenty of local shops, breweries, and restaurants close by like Lure and Rice by Mama. If you love music, the Boots & Brews Country Music Festival is happening on June 13th with plenty of dancing and good tunes.
Oxnard
Channel Islands Harbor has some of the best water sports for adults and kiddos. I love taking my dog to ‘olołkoy Beach Park because it’s super clean (voted best beach on the west coast) and they have an awesome bike path route.

Camarillo
Known for its Premium Outlets, the shopping center spans across several blocks including name-brand stores like Michael Kors, Pottery Barn, Banana Republic, and more. I usually stop by Institution Ale Co. to recharge with some homemade pretzels.
Family-friendly Activities
Got the kiddos in tow? Here are some activities the whole family will love.
Ventura Harbor Village has really fun pedal boats. I usually call dibs on the swan and my husband gets the dragon. When you’re done, stop by Harbor Cove Beach. It’s known as one of the safest beaches in Ventura because of the small waves.
Roll up to the Father’s Day Car Show on June 21st in Oxnard from 10 AM – 3 PM. There will be plenty of food trucks and some of the coolest cars you’ll ever see. I still dream about the teal ‘50s Chevrolet we saw.
The kidSTREAM Children’s Museum in Camarillo focuses on science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and math. There are plenty of exhibits and outdoor sensory play areas they’ll love to explore.
Outdoor Adventures
Make a day out of visiting the Channel Islands with Island Packers. They offer some of the best island trips, wildlife cruises, camping, and more. Santa Rosa Island and Anacapa are a couple of my favorites. Both depart from Ventura Harbor with plenty of hiking and dramatic sea cliffs. Landing on Anacapa Island isn’t guaranteed but you’ll still get to see a bunch of wildlife on the cruise.
If you’re looking for a more local hike, Harmon Canyon Preserve has 2,100 acres of coastal vistas with diverse trails. It’s perfect for both casual strolls and challenging workouts. Plus, the views can’t be beat!
Okay, your June vacation to Ventura County Coast is officially planned. Here’s the hard part: What are you going to do first?
