If you prefer something a little more inland, the Ventura Botanical Gardens look and smell heavenly with thousands of plant species from all over the world. And the newly opened Harmon Canyon Preserve is a hiker’s paradise filled with centuries-old oak trees, swaying grasses, and wind-swept vistas.
Port Hueneme
Continue your relaxing Ventura County Coast vacation at Port Hueneme Beach Park. The local scenery simply can’t be beat as you’re chilling on the sun-soaked beach or strolling along the pier. The sound of rolling waves and soaring birds will lull you into a sense of bliss. The sea salt spray and exfoliating sand in your toes makes it feel like an outdoor spa day!
Channel Islands
Channel Islands National Park provides a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, with miles of natural coastline, beaches and hiking trails. The park’s giant kelp forests are an underwater playground for divers and snorkelers alike. The islands also offer an egg-cellent opportunity for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. Keep your ears and eyes open for shorebirds, seals, whales, dolphins and even foxes! The island fox is a descendant of the mainland gray fox and found only at the Channel Islands. Island Packers offers daily boat rides out to the islands from both Channel Islands Harbor and Ventura Harbor.
