Coastal Highlights You Can’t Miss
Channel Islands National Park
Often called the “Galapagos of North America,” Channel Islands National Park is a breathtaking archipelago just offshore. Accessible by boat from Ventura and Oxnard harbors, these five protected islands are home to rare wildlife, hiking trails, sea caves, and world-class kayaking.
While there’s no accommodations on the Islands, daily trips to the Islands can be booked through Island Packers and tour operators at Channel Islands and Ventura Harbors. It’s highly recommended to book your island excursions well in advance to ensure your spot.

Whale Watching & Ocean Wildlife
Spot humpback whales, blue whales, and even orcas on their annual migration, right from the shore or on an unforgettable ocean safari. Whale and ocean sea-faris operate year-round with major whale migrations happening during the winter months. If you’re lucky you’ll get to see a humpback whale from the beach or on a cliff on PCH. In addition to majestic giants, year-round, dolphins, sea lions, and even a rare sighting of the white orca, also known as “Frosty,” make this coastline a magical place for ocean lovers.
